Voluntary positions
If you are interested in getting involved in politics the natural step is to join your local political party and get involved in the political lide of the Association.
In between elections we are always thinking about and working towards the next election. This means fund raising, campaigning and improving our election winning organisation.
Volunteers are absolutely vital when it comes to achieving everything we do. Its all about teamwork.
Politics is a fascinating business and once you give it a go you may get bitten by the bug!
Elected positions
Councillors Elections to Local Councils are held every four years. We aim to contest most wards of Torridge District and West Devon Borough Council. We contest every division of Devon County Council. Selection of candidates usually happens around a year in advance and we will advertise selections on this page when we begin recruitment and selection of candidates.
For further infomation on the role and duties of a local Councillor we suggest that you visit the Conservative Councillors Association.
We expect our Councillors to play a full role in the political life of the Association and to participate in local campaigning activities of the Association in all elections.
Parliament
Those wishing to enter Parliament or the European Parliament should consider contacting the Candidate's Department in Conservative HQ (0207 222 9000) and should also join the local Conservative Association. The Party maintains an approved list of Candidates to fill vacancies. The Party operates a selection procedure that is subject to modification by the Board of the Conservative Party on a periodic basis.
